They are seeking a Vice President of Portfolio Operations (Operating Partner) to lead operational initiatives, drive growth, and enhance performance across their portfolio companies. This is a critical role requiring a hands-on leader who can work closely with management teams to execute strategic objectives and deliver measurable results.
Position Overview:
As the Vice President of Portfolio Operations, you will serve as an Operating Partner, working closely with portfolio company leadership to drive operational improvements, enhance growth initiatives, and maximize value. This role requires an experienced operational leader with a background in private equity environments, expertise in scaling businesses, and a track record of improving efficiency and profitability. The ideal candidate will bring both strategic insight and a tactical approach to managing day-to-day operations within portfolio companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Leadership: Partner with portfolio company executives to assess and improve operational efficiencies, develop scalable processes, and drive strategic initiatives that align with the firm’s investment goals.
- Performance Improvement: Identify opportunities for performance enhancement across functional areas such as finance, supply chain, production, and sales, implementing best practices that drive revenue growth and cost savings.
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Support portfolio companies in strategic planning, including market expansion, product development, and customer engagement, ensuring alignment with private equity objectives.
- Change Management: Lead organizational change efforts, including restructuring, process improvements, and team development to foster a culture of excellence and agility.
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate with finance teams to monitor financial performance, analyze operational KPIs, and ensure alignment with budgetary and profitability targets.
- Board and Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison between portfolio company leadership and the private equity firm, presenting performance updates, strategic initiatives, and operational insights to stakeholders.
- M&A and Integration: Participate in M&A activities, supporting due diligence efforts and leading post-acquisition integration to achieve targeted synergies and accelerate value creation.
- Talent Development: Mentor and coach portfolio company management teams, fostering leadership growth and building high-performing teams that drive sustained operational improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of operational leadership experience, with significant experience working in private equity-backed organizations and a track record of managing multiple portfolio companies.
- Proven success in driving operational improvements, scalability, and cost efficiency across diverse business functions.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing operational KPIs.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with portfolio company executives, board members, and private equity partners.
- Experience with M&A activities, including due diligence, integration, and achieving operational synergies.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, adaptable to changing priorities and capable of managing complex operations.
- Must be located in the DFW metro area and able to travel to portfolio company sites as needed.
