Pay Rate: $52,000 Annually

Hours: Day Shift


Job Summary:
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our team. The designer will collaborate closely with state staff to develop impactful visuals and messaging for various projects. This role involves a blend of creativity, technical skills, and the ability to work within a government setting. You will be responsible for creating graphics, logos, and web designs, ensuring that all design work is visually appealing, accurate, and aligned with the State's messaging goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet with state staff to determine project scope and objectives.
  • Advise on strategies to effectively reach target audiences.
  • Determine the message that design elements should convey.
  • Create images that effectively identify a product or communicate a message.
  • Develop graphics for logos, websites, and other state-related projects.
  • Select appropriate colors, images, text styles, and layouts for designs.
  • Present design concepts to state officials and stakeholders.
  • Incorporate feedback and changes recommended by the state into final designs.
  • Review designs for errors prior to printing or publishing.
  • Ensure that designs meet coding standards and optimize web architectures for user navigability and accessibility.
  • Use specialized graphic design software to prepare and finalize designs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
  • Expertise in utilizing graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data modeling and ad hoc analysis.
  • Availability to work on-site in Baton Rouge, LA on a regular basis.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large, complex datasets to discern key themes.
  • Experience working in or collaborating with government agencies.
  • Skills in project design and management.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, especially PowerBI and PowerAutomate.
  • Experience with data visualization for external audiences.
