Third Wave Systems, a leading provider of CAE analysis software for machining solutions, is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Development Team. Our software engineers develop cutting edge technologies to help customers solve the most challenging problems encountered in machining. This position will be focused on developing software solutions for machining problems using a variety of technologies including numerical methods, finite element formulations, mesh generation, three dimensional geometry engines, mechanicstic machining models, and constitutive modeling of materials.
Requirements
Must be able to demonstrate and exemplify Third Wave Systems Core Values: Driven, Takes Pride, Solutions Oriented, Critical Thinker and Collaborative
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Materials Science or related fields
Proficient in one or more of the following programming languages: C++, FORTRAN 95/90/77, C.
Expertise in modeling of constitutive and failure behaviors of metals and/or PMC/CMC composites.
Expertise in one or more of these areas: explicit, implicit, direct and iterative solution methodologies; thermo-mechanical coupled analysis; mechanistic machining modeling; large deformation analysis; mesh less methods; cohesive zone modeling; plasticity; and constitutive modeling of metals
Experience with parallel programming is desired (OpenMp, MPI, and/or GPU)
Experience with computational geometry, mesh generation and/or adaptive remeshing is desired
Strong communication skills are required, along with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across the organization
Experience with designing and developing complex software systems using disciplined software engineering approaches
Strong computer science background
Not required but nice to have:
Knowledge of machining processes is a plus
Experience with cloud platform technologies (AWS and/or Azure) is a plus.
Experience with Machine Learning technologies is a plus.
