ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking an A/V Engineer with specific experience in Video or Video Surveillanceto join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This is an on-site position at the FAA Technical Center.
Responsibilities
This is an outstanding opportunity to work on an FAA project that utilizes Ocularis (a video management system with an emphasis on real-time operations and live visualization). This product is used to provide visual data on extended runways on a program called VSAS - Visual Surveillance Advisory System. Great benefits including a matching 401k plan with immediate vesting, certification reimbursement and tuition reimbursement.
Required
- Provide remote technical support of the Visual Surveillance Advisory System (VSAS) and Automation Engineering that supports the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport extended Runway 15/33 by 1,000 feet to accommodate larger aircraft and boost passenger count, leading to increased tourism revenues, especially in the summer.
- However, this extension created visibility challenges for Air Traffic Control (ATC), particularly regarding the south end of the runway and adjacent taxiways. To address these issues, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mandated the implementation of a Visual Surveillance Advisory System (VSAS) before commissioning the extended runway for ATC use. The VSAS, consisting of an integrated camera system, serves as a cost-effective alternative to building a new ATC Tower or other surveillance options. Given that Aspen Airport lacks glide slope equipment and experiences no zero or low visibility Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) operations, the advisory nature of the VSAS project was deemed a viable solution to enhance situational awareness within allowable ATC minimums.
- Applicable functional areas include proficiency and knowledge of computer programming and networking
- Additionally, skills and experience with system interfaces as well as electrical engineering concepts and principles.
- Work specifically with the VSAS Team using Ocularis (Video Management Software), AutoHotkey Scripting, along with knowledge of Computer Programming and Networking to provide remote technical support of VSAS in a Windows/Linux environment.
- Create and Maintain Technical Documentation.
- Work individually and within a group/team.
- Take direction and initiative; provide direction and training.
- Communicate technical issues with non-technical people.
