We re searching for team members to help envision, build, and execute the growth strategy of the company in 2020 and beyond. We re looking to add ambitious leaders across the company. How you ll fit in:
As a key member of our R+D team, you will work with a team of scientists who create an engaging, exciting atmosphere full of learning opportunities and innovative new discoveries. As an R&D Chemist II, your job will be to enhance our current products and develop new products that leverage the latest market trends and technologies. Every day, you ll use your technical knowledge and background to create products and services that drive the growth of our customers and improve the lives of their consumers. Strong communication skills and a history of developing forward thinking, innovative approaches to formulation will help you collaborate with and lead the rest of the team.
What you ll do:
General lab duties
Keep lab organized and tidy
Order samples, pricing, lead times and applicable documents needed for projects
Provide project updates in the system (ie. Louis and Monday.com).
Assist with document control.
Work in the lab independently.
R&D (pre-approval)
Must have strong formulation skills in all personal care categories (skin care, hair care, body care and sun care).
Knowledgeable with OTC regulations and requirements.
Research, develop, and refine new personal care product formulas for our branded clients from brief to approval.
Individually manage assigned projects from brief through first production
Review brief, create a preliminary IL and cost for customer to approve
Understand regulatory and claims compliance
Batch formulas on the bench, label and fill samples and prepare for shipping
Enter formulas into systems (ie. Louis, CMS, ERP, etc)
Validate approved or customer supplied formulas.
R&D (post-approval)
Prepare samples for testing and update stability trackers until complete
Update master formula file with applicable documents
Make batches for additional bulk, as needed.
Trouble shoot current and old formulas, when needed.
Partner with the Process Engineer for a smooth and efficient transfers from R&D to production.
Supervise pilot and first production batches for cosmetic and OTC products.
Innovation
Craft innovative concepts starting with a clear hypothesis on product development needs. Develop and test new product innovations against those hypotheses.
Propose new product modifications and innovations based on your research in market and ingredient trends.
General business
Create new processes for evaluating product and their potential impact to our customers business.
Solidify Prime as an industry leading in new product and ingredient development.

What you have:
5+ years experience working in personal care and OTC formula development
3+ years leading product development of new, innovative formulas and ingredients
Track record of being able to deliver innovative solution to tough formulation problems
Deep care and ownership of all your work
Interest in provided a safe work environment
Impressive interpersonal and communication skills in small and large groups
Curiosity for the role that new technology can play in product development
The ability to make tough decisions quickly, and to take ownership over the outcome
A Bachelor s degree in chemistry or closely related field
Undergraduate level study in mathematics, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry
Preferred: Master s degree in chemistry or related field
Preferred: Study focus on personal care/cosmetic chemistry
