Position Description

Under general direction is responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for all Credit Union networks using reasonable discretion. Exercises considerable latitude and independent judgment in determining technical objectives of assignments. Assists the Information Systems Manager with staff support, including serving as a lead for staff training, and project management. Serves as a technical expert in network administration including systems administration. The Sr. Network Administrator is responsible for investigating and analyzing feasibility of network requirements and developing network specifications. The Sr. Network Administrator is responsible for identifying and implementing network and system procedures and solutions and providing project leadership and management to provide an exceptional level of service to all Credit Union departments. Adapts to flexible work hours to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.

Position Requirements

Bachelor s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience in network administration and support required. Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in the field of network and systems administration. Must work well independently and as part of a team. Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise presentations, reports and project management documentation are required. Highly motivated individual with exceptional prioritization, organizational, time management. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, full cycle project management, and multi-tasking skills are required. Ability to plan, write and organize network design activities, configure networks consistent with organizational policies and procedures, perform complex analysis and produce professional and technical documentation with recommendations. Must have advanced experience in working with VM Ware, Windows Active Directory, and Group Policy Management. Experience in an enterprise environment a preferred. Weekend work may be required. Will be required to be on call and carry a cell phone to provide 24 hours a day 7 days a week technical support coverage.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of all network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, servers, workstations, telecommunications, intrusion detection equipment, various IT hardware, operating systems, security and data protection by monitoring network performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
  • Provide leadership, coaches, and trains Information Systems staff to ensure department achieves operational goals.
  • Support and/or lead project teams to clarify project requirements, provide design solutions, in accordance with standards.
  • Researches and resolves all network issues.
  • Performs hardware and virtualized server setup, installation and configuration of the OS, new releases, and upgrades.
  • Manages and administrates all operating systems, telecommunications, communications, and connection solutions and their corresponding or associated software.
  • Manages and ensures the integrity of host computers and databases.
  • Develops strategies for client/server implementations, and architects the infrastructure required to support those strategies.
  • Implements redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and the integrity of organizational data and assets.
  • Develops and executes backup and recovery processes for all data systems.
  • Assists in capacity planning and determining equipment specifications for purchase.
  • Monitors, tunes, diagnoses, and resolves operating system problems.
  • Executes policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure server/workstation/network security.
  • Monitor and upgrade corporate anti-virus solution(s) on servers as needed.
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Credit Union information security policies and procedures.
  • Works with management, departments, staff, and vendors to support information technology initiatives.
  • Acts as project lead in the design and review of new/existing network systems, applications, and hardware.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with Information Technology team members to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of organizational severs to meet business demands.
  • Plans, implements, and manages network upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
  • Develops and maintains training materials and network documentation, as it relates to network configuration, mapping processes, and service records.
  • Trains department and credit union staff on information technology relative to the Credit Union, as assigned.
  • Performs periodic network assessment and analysis to determine the level of network efficiency and prepares and delivers reports to management.
  • Provides continual maintenance and updating of software patch levels on all systems.
  • Establishes and maintains good work standards and PC standards, methods of operation, software policies, and user training program.
  • Supports remote locations in all information technology matters, providing on-site support as required.
  • Prepares configuration recommendations based on user and/or departmental requirements.
  • Reviews logs of network devices (such as firewalls, routers, and switches) to determine optimal functionality of Credit Union systems and/or inappropriate use of network resources.
  • Works with information security management to keep the Credit Union in compliance with industry regulations and laws.
  • Works with other departments to gather and prepare documentation for auditors.
  • Liaises with internal departments as needed to ensure proper communications, problem solving and tracking of all information technology issues and processes related to the business.
  • Supports the development and implementation of technology solutions for Credit Union operations.
  • Administers various networks, provides training to users and ongoing business owner support, and creates periodic reports as assigned.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility within the information technology team and in working with internal and external resources.
  • Responds to emergency situations effectively.
  • Must effectively, positively, collaboratively, and professionally communicate and work with vendors and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Represents the Credit Union and IT Department in meetings related to areas of responsibility, and as assigned.
  • Provides guidance to junior members of the team.

Compensation and Job Title is commensurate with experience and may fall under the following pay ranges:

Sr. Network Administrator - $81,483 to $122,225 Annually
