NDi is seeking a highly capable and experienced Systems Administrator to join our team. This role will involve managing critical systems within classified DoD environments, including remote administration of Linux and Windows servers, as well as virtualized and hyper-converged platforms. The ideal candidate will be technically adept, self-motivated, and capable of supporting diverse enterprise services while being open to domestic and overseas travel. You will play a key role in supporting system security, integrity, and operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense and National Security Agency security standards. This position is hybrid (onsite/remote) and requires travel and work in the following work locations/areas: North Carolina, Virginia, Arizona, Washington State, Hawaii, Germany, South Korea, and Southwest Asia. Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must possess Active Secret security clearance
- This position is hybrid (onsite/remote) and requires presence at designated work locations.
- Travel Commitment: Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to travel up to 50%, with extended stays at U.S. and overseas locations. - Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in system administration, particularly in environments with both RHEL and Windows Server platforms.
Certifications:
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or equivalent) or higher.
Technical Expertise:
- Proven ability to manage Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate-based trust/authentication mechanisms, ensuring secure communication and data protection.
Virtualization Expertise:
- Experience managing virtual servers and hyperconverged platforms, preferably VMware ESXi.
Enterprise Services Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding and experience managing enterprise services such as Active Directory, DNS, GPOs, antivirus solutions, and patch automation.
SIEM and Syslog Management:
- Familiarity with syslog aggregation and managing SIEM systems (e.g., Elastic) for centralized log collection, analysis, and security event management.
Desirable Qualifications/Nice to Haves:
IPv6 Expertise:
- Experience implementing IPv6 alongside IPv4 (dual stack) within enterprise networks, ensuring compatibility and seamless functionality.
Govt. Environment Experience:
- Familiarity with operating within DoD environments, applying STIGs, and ensuring adherence to military-grade security protocols.
Linux and Windows Proficiency:
- Comfortable managing both Linux and Windows environments via command-line interfaces and capable of troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on both platforms.
Scripting and Automation:
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Ansible, along with proficiency in writing scripts to automate system tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Certifications:
- Additional certifications such as RHCSA for Linux administration or other relevant credentials validating expertise in system management preferred.
Responsibilities:
- System Administration: Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of both Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.
- Virtualization and Hyperconvergence: Administer virtual server environments, particularly VMware ESXi, and work with hyperconverged infrastructure to optimize performance, scalability, and system integration.
- Certificate-Based Trust Management: Administer Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate-based authentication systems to enforce secure communications and data integrity across systems.
- Security Compliance: Apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other compliance measures to both classified and unclassified systems. Ensure that systems meet DoD security and operational standards.
- Enterprise Services Management: Administer and optimize core enterprise services, including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and antivirus tools. Ensure seamless integration and management of services in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Patch and Vulnerability Management: Manage system updates, patches, and vulnerability remediation to maintain system security and compliance. Work proactively to minimize system downtime and security risks.
- Automation and Scripting: Leverage automation tools such as Ansible to streamline system administration processes.
- Develop and maintain custom scripts to improve operational efficiency and consistency in system management tasks.
- Log Aggregation and Monitoring: Set up and manage syslog aggregation across the network, ensuring comprehensive logging of system and security events. Collaborate with security teams to monitor logs and identify potential vulnerabilities or breaches.
- SIEM Integration: Support the deployment and management of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, particularly Elastic, to enable robust security event monitoring and incident detection.
