MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for an Avionics System & Integration Engineer to join the team with the Engineering Division. on the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA's pursuits in deep space exploration.
As an Avionics System & Integration Engineer you will:
- The Avionics System and Integration Engineer will be managing the SE activities the Communication Low Orbit Project (Comm LEO)
- Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents
- Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering
- Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities
- Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications
- Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process
- Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation
- Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements
- Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews andcritical design reviews
- Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence theoverall electrical design and performance
- Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware
- Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan riskresponses
- Work and present schedule and progress to customers
- Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Perform other duties as required
Here's What You'll Need:
Requisition Qualifications:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
- 10 years' of relevant experience in systems engineering
- Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies including model-based systems engineering
- Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements
- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Able to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Experience working in a team environment
Requisition Preferences:
- Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork
- Experience with NASA processes
Proof of US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a US government background investigation.

Essential Functions
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
