We are working with a Columbus client to identify a Director of Cloud Engineering. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of cloud engineers to design, deploy, and maintain cloud solutions across the enterprise.
  • Define the strategic roadmap for cloud architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, security, and software development to deliver scalable and secure cloud solutions.
  • Establish cloud governance, security standards, and best practices for cloud deployments and operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cloud infrastructure efficiency, cost optimization, and system performance.
  • Partner with senior leadership to communicate cloud strategy, progress, and key initiatives.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and cloud-native applications.
  • Manage vendor relationships and oversee the selection of cloud service providers and tools.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in cloud engineering or a similar role.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale cloud environments, preferably on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong expertise in cloud architecture and infrastructure design (e.g., microservices, containers, serverless computing).
  • Deep understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud cost management and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams.
