Day In the Life of an Estimator

We would count on you to support our team with:

  • Lead the charge. Lead in all aspects of preconstruction, including estimating, budgeting, planning, logistics, scheduling, and execution.
  • Attention to detail. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, attend design meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required content of estimates.
  • Estimating champion. Assemble and communicate estimates on complex projects, including from conceptual to detailed bids and hard bid projects.
  • Continuous learning and improvement. Constantly search for value engineering opportunities at every stage of a project.
  • Talk the talk. Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and goals with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the desired result and financial success of all projects.
  • Research. Analyze historical cost information and leverage various sources of data to create cost models utilized for future project opportunities.
  • Connect and develop relationships. Build and maintain a network of trade and A/E partners to support cost benchmarking and bid day coverage.
  • Brand ambassador. Granger has earned a positive reputation in the construction industry. Our teammates illustrate our values in each conversation and interaction: trust, honesty, fairness, integrity, compassion, and appreciation for the team contribution.

What Experience You Bring

  • Conceptual experience. 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Education. Bachelor's degree in building construction management, civil engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Technologically savvy. Knowledge of software to support estimating scheduling, communication, and reporting.
  • Organization. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Walk the walk. Lead by example and excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Trust your instincts. You can anticipate needs, take initiative, and proactively address issues.
  • A true go-getter. You have tenacity to self-start and accomplish tasks, follow-through, and meet deadlines.
  • Entrepreneurial-minded. The ability to see the big picture while simultaneously focusing on the details.
