Apprentice Engineer

Job Family – Engineering

This family is responsible for creating everything from the initial concept to the final design of Survitec Marine products. They develop ideas for new products and prototypes, as well as evolving the design details of established ranges. They deeply understand the safety needs of Survitec customers and deliver innovation that captures our design strategy and brand values. They integrate innovative functional solutions with world-class creativity to support Survitec’s vision to become the most trusted provider of safety services

Job Summary

This role carries out varied engineering tasks and assignments and completes rotations, under varying levels of supervision. It is focused on developing the skills and capabilities needed to take on a specific engineering role within Survitec. As part of this skills development process, the role holder attends a formal 3-year day release professional qualification programme

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs a broad range of tests that require detailed assessment, measurement and judgment
  • Implements feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions under supervision, to provide feedback and contribute to the validation of engineering design
  • Supports others by implementing improvements and carrying out simple change management tasks
  • Support others by carrying out tasks to policy, process and standard
  • Organises own work schedule to get the job done, co-ordinating with support services and assigning short-term tasks to other members of the team as necessary
  • Supports project managers by performing tasks to process, observing all Survitec standards including quality and health and safety
  • Collects and prepares standard data related to ongoing issues
  • Assesses compliance with established standards and protocols for routine enquiries
  • Supports others by carrying out simple product development or engineering tasks, such as gathering data or preparing documents, following established procedures
  • Develops and maintains excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching
  • Creates an environment where everyone in the team can live the Survitec Values
  • Contributes positively to creating an inclusive environment where our people feel valued, appreciated and free to be who they are at work
  • Understands, upholds and contributes to creating a safety-first culture within Survitec

Experience And Qualification

Educated to High School / Further Education college level, with 2 A Levels

4 – 6 months experience of simple office or operational systems
