Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Data Architect to join our forward-thinking team at a dynamic company serving the defense sector. The ideal candidate will have a firm foundation in building, optimizing, and maintaining conceptual and logical database models to meet our business needs. Candidates with Air Force or Department of Defense (DoD) experience will be ideal for navigating the complexities of our projects, thanks to their familiarity with the unique requirements of defense-related data systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and construct robust, scalable database solutions that incorporate data analytics and reporting components.
  • Develop data strategies that encompass aspects of data validation, standardization, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Lead the definition and orchestration of data flows and their integration into existing systems.
  • Establish data governance practices and ensure they comply with industry and federal regulations specific to defense data handling.
  • Collaborate with IT management and department leads to assess and recommend database technologies and data modeling tools.
  • Guide and mentor a team of data professionals in developing and maintaining a strong data infrastructure.
  • Conduct data capacity planning, life cycle, duration, usage requirements, feasibility studies, and other tasks.
  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture, design, and high-performing software.
  • Partner effectively with stakeholders and end-users within the Air Force or DoD to understand and fulfill their data architecture needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and advancements in the field of data architecture and management.
Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar role, particularly in systems relevant to defense sector data operations.
  • Expert understanding of database structure principles and data administration standards.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and database design tools.
  • Strong command over SQL and experience with at least one of the following: MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with modern technologies like NoSQL databases, Data Lakes, Big Data technologies.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Active security clearance or previous experience in a role that required a security clearance.
  • Experience working directly with Air Force or other DoD entities.
  • Knowledge of data security practices as they pertain to the defense industry and associated IT environments.
  • Certification as a Data Management Professional or similar qualification.
