Job Description: Must be a team player, flexible and accustomed to fast paced environment. This is a 13-week contract assignment and requires at least one 13-week previous travel assignment and two (2) years current experience required in specialty. Must have at least 2 years hospital or long-term care experience within related field.

Certifications: BLS certification required and must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or client.

Shifts: 12-hour _Day__ Shift; start time _0700___. Shifts may fluctuate to fulfill department staffing needs. On call, weekends and holidays may be required, per staff rotation. Travelers are first to float within facility and to alternate locations within 20 miles of permanent assigned location. Traveling pairs are not guaranteed same schedules or same shifts. Position will float to other areas as needed, within scope of practice.

EMR: EPIC experience preferred, but not required; can train on-site.

Orientation: 1st week of the contract, not to exceed 40 total hours, and includes EPIC training.

Scrubs: Required and not provided by the facility.

Summary

Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients.

Responsibilities

Monitors, collects and records information in the patient record. Accurately records input and output. *Assists with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene (shaving, mouth care, foot care, pericare and bathing), positioning and ambulation. *Rounds on patients and families frequently to assess and address personal needs, concerns, or comfort related issues. Reports information to responsible nurse for resolution when necessary. *Performs bedside testing such as Glucometry. *Removes peripheral, intravenous therapy lines. *Assist with application and removal of restraints under the direction of an RN. *Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record. Assembles patient charts. Posts laboratory and other results in patient chart. Uses the computerized documentation system at the skill level commensurate with the responsibilities included in this description. *Delivers specimens to Laboratory, Microbiology and Pathology. Transports x-rays, blood products and equipment. *Ensures cleanliness of nutrition areas and general unit. Cleans and stores equipment. Empties trash, linen bags, and sharps containers. *Stocks medical supplies, linens, and paper goods. Inventories equipment as required. Processes broken equipment as directed. *Performs basic clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, filing, and copying. *Communicates information pertinent to the end of shift summation before leaving the unit. *Performs other functions as required.
