We are looking for a Principal Project Controls Specialist to lead the development of project reporting systems and dive deep into complex project controls tasks, including estimating, scheduling, change documentation, and cost control. You will report at both the program and portfolio levels and be an essential mentor within the Project Controls team, providing training and guidance to junior members with minimal supervision and a high degree of independence on projects from $100 million to over $500 million.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop advanced reporting systems for project controls functions.
  • Perform complex project controls tasks including cost estimating, scheduling, and cost control for large-scale projects.
  • Report on project performance up to program and portfolio levels.
  • Mentor, train, and provide guidance to junior Project Controls team members.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight, making expert-level contributions to project controls processes.
  • Coordinate and maintain relationships with project team members, external suppliers, and vendors.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, project management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of project controls experience (11 years in lieu of a degree).
  • Mastery in project controls principles and advanced understanding of project management concepts, computer applications, and analytics.
  • Strong collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with proven skills in employee development and team oversight.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in business, finance, project management, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certifications, such as PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, or certifications from AACE (CCC, PSP, CEP, EVP).
  • Proficiency in project management software, including MS Project, Primavera, Business Objects, Prolog, Passport, Visio, Powerplant, Emax, and PeopleSoft.
  • Experience with risk management tools and Monte Carlo analysis.
