Pay Range: $25 - $40 hourly

As a Data Center Technician at our data center facility in Ashburn, VA, you’llleverage your technical expertise while continuing to grow and develop your skills in a fast-paced environment.
Do:
- Manage end-to-end trouble ticket handling, from initial troubleshooting to resolution. Ensure issues are resolved efficiently and effectively providing regular updates to the customers.
- Work both independently and as part of ateam to support operations at our data center facilities.
- Configure and install network and server equipment for both customers and internal departments, ensuring all setups meet operational standards.
- Stay engaged with Summit’s internal communications and company-wide announcements.
- Perform other data center-related duties as assigned, adapting to the needs of the facility.
- Interface with both local and remote customers or facility vendors.
- Perform remote hands support for Summit’s primary Ashburn, VA Data Center location as well as nearby secondary sites
- Perform server and network troubleshooting.
- Perform advanced server and network troubleshooting, maintaining Summit’s high-quality standards for remote hands support.
- Keep the colocation space clean, organized, and compliant with operational standards.
- Strong experience in troubleshooting/fault isolation.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a team environment utilizing our ticketing system.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in a data center or tech support environment.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows and common Linux distributions (Server 2012/16/19, Ubuntu, Alma, Rocky, CentOS).
- Ability to work on a designated shift with some flexibility based on customer orders and maintenance windows (24/7/365 operations).
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.
- Passion for learning, teaching, and collaborating knowledge.
- Ability to lift 75 lbs. to shoulder height.
- Sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time including the regular use of ladders.
- Ability to see and read details on equipment both near and far.
- Ability to use company-provided hand and power tools.
- Linux and Windows networking, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Physical configuration and maintenance/troubleshooting of x86 hardware.
- Structured cabling, termination, and testing following BICSI standards.
- Intermediate understanding of networking and internet protocols (OSI model, TCP/IP, CIDR, SNMP).
- Ethernet Switches.
- IP Addressing (CIDR/Netmasks).
- DNS (basic DNS/BIND troubleshooting).
- HTTP (basic apache troubleshooting).
