Description
This Security Systems Administrator position is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing the security configuration of L&l's networked environment under the direct guidance and direction of Journey and Senior level security specialists and Chief Information Security Officer.
Under direct guidance from Senior and Journey IT Security specialists, this position monitors, diagnoses and resolves routine security alerts within the agency-wide Identity Access Management System. The incumbent is also responsible for reviewing and maintaining access controls and assisting Senior IT Security staff in reviewing agency-wide security awareness training. The position serves as a backup to operate and assist with security solutions, including vulnerability management, network access control and security information and event management solutions.
This position implements security access controls, provisions and de-provisions users, and monitors for security breaches. In addition, this position evaluates routine security requests for software, routes tickets and concerns to the correct parties, recommends and implements security improvements and plays a vital role in managing L&I’s Security Systems to keep L&I confidential information secure.

REQUIRED:
This position requires a total of four years of experience and/or education. Qualifying experience includes experience in one or more of the following IT disciplines: IT security, IT consulting, application development, systems development, desktop support, helpdesk or system support, systems analysis, data analytics, network operations, or database management. Qualified education may substitute for work experience on a year-by-year basis.
OR
An Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related field and two (2) years qualifying IT experience*.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related field.

Duties
Some Of What You’ll Do:
Security System Administration
- Assist with monitoring security event logs, analysis of reports and security violations, and resolution of security-related problems with provisioning. Following prescribed business rules and procedures, authorize access, validate correct implementation, and analyze for separation of duties and least privilege
- Create and manage user accounts and rights and provide access
- Add users to groups based on roles and grant necessary access to files and administrative abilities
- Process access requests for external
- Assist with evaluating, preparing and deploying system changes
- Contribute to the testing of upgrades and communicate activities and requirements
- Review, interpret, analyze, recommend, document, and verify technical requirements
- Extract logs, evaluate the data, and restore services to internal and external customers
- Troubleshoot security applications, and connectivity issues
- In addition, may be expected to write technical documents and procedures
- Analyze & solve third tier customer support problems related to IT security (e.g. access control, authentication, user privileges, etc.)
- Viewing, gathering, and evaluating logs with the Agency-wide Internet Content Filter (Internet access files)
- Promoting, developing, designing, and evaluating L&I’s Security Awareness training curriculum and materials. Schedule, facilitate, and conduct classes covering security topics
- Help develop, edit, or review security standards and procedures.
