The Energy Solutions (ESS) business unit is a “startup within an established, global company” at the Rochester Toyota Material Handling North America Energy Solutions Development Center, leading technical aspects of an emerging business with the support of an established world known company and brand. Join our growing engineering team to identify, develop, and deploy leading-edge energy storage technologies for various material handling vehicle platforms that enable best in class Total Cost of Ownership for our customers in productivity, energy efficiency, and sustainability.

About The Position

We’re looking for an Engineering Program Manager to manage the technology components of our Development Engineering projects and programs. You will:

  • Work closely with engineering management, project technical leads, and the overall Program Manager to create program schedules and ensure commitments are met.
  • Monitor and direct the day-to-day engineering operations of assigned program(s) to ensure the engineering team activities are being accomplished to meet schedule, budget, and performance parameters.
  • Drive activity between multiple functional groups within Corporate Engineering and third parties to accomplish objectives.
  • Organize resources to accomplish objectives. Develop and maintain engineering program schedule and provide solutions for issues that may interfere with the achievement of objectives.
  • Support the Lead Engineer’s technical development plans and work to keep appropriate stakeholders engaged.
  • Monitor and stay current on technical and operational changes which affect the activities and work processes of the program.
  • Evaluate technical risks and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Monitor engineering development commitments and adjust manpower accordingly.
  • Provide technical and administrative guidance and direction to individuals within the project team.
  • Monitor and ensures adherence to engineering department processes.

About You

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering. Other disciplines considered with appropriate PM experience.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • 4+ years of in-depth project management experience.
  • Proven history of bringing programs to completion, meeting or exceeding cost, quality, and on-time delivery requirements.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15%.
  • Ability to gain consensus and deal with sensitive issues in a tactful manner.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical skills to identify, analyze, and convey key insights on project health.
  • Results orientated self-started able to manage vision and purpose.
  • Background in product development leading to successful product launch.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects with multiple dependencies.
  • Smartsheet & MS Project experience.

It Would Be Great If You Had

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Material handling or another durable goods manufacturing environment experience.
  • Experience with 24, 36, & 48 volt batteries, as well as high voltage (80-300 volt) batteries.
  • Strong understanding of electrical components and system architecture.

About The Total Compensation Package

Salary - $112,700 - $158,900 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation - This position may qualify for relocation.
