Position Summary Information
Objective
To perform the day-to-day operations of instructional programs on the assigned campus.
Essential Duties
This is a 12 month, benefits eligible position. Blinn College pays 100% of health insurance for full time employees, 50% for dependents, and two times your annual salary in life insurance benefits. Optional coverages can begin on your first active duty date. - Provide instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations.
- Demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
- Maintain access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication.
- Prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institution.
- Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
- Advise students in academic matters.
- Evaluate student performance through a variety of means to measure progress while informing students in a timely manner.
- Assist in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives.
- Provide recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean, Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Teams regarding curriculum.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community.
- Provide information requested of all faculty.
- Submit timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions/departments.
- Exhibit a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activities.
- Possess a passion for teaching community college students.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and orally.
- Attend college orientation and required institutional meetings.
- Responsible for other related duties as assigned.
- Associate's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited college or university with three years of industry work experience in the subject area.
- No prior teaching experience is required, we'll introduce you to our curriculum and instructional methods that accommodate our students' learning styles.
- Must have the industry experience to provide instruction in several of the following areas: basic electricity and electronics, robotics, micro-processors, instrumentation, digital logic, industrial motor controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, mechanical drives, programmable logic controllers, machinery installation, AC/DC drives, industrial troubleshooting, safety, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma.
- Teaching at the college or secondary level.
- Online teaching experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
- Five (5) years of industry work experience in the subject area.
- Industry-based certifications.
- Bilingual
- Must have physical capability to effectively use and demonstrate equipment trainers used for advanced manufacturing.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
- Must be capable of walking, standing, bending for 40% of time.
