Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: Handle general assignments and administrative tasks to free up the executive for higher-priority work. This includes managing correspondence, preparing documents, and routing inquiries.
  • Liaison Duties: Act as a bridge between the executive’s office and external entities, including the governor’s office, state departments, local and federal agencies, community organizations, and the legislature. This may involve attending meetings, legislative events, and community gatherings.
  • Complaint and Inquiry Management: Address concerns and requests from the legislature, other departments, citizens, and employees as needed.
  • Staff Supervision: Oversee clerical and support staff, providing assignments, training, and performance evaluations. Make personnel recommendations regarding employment, promotions, and other personnel actions.
  • Travel and Event Coordination: Arrange travel, maintain expense accounts, and order office supplies.
  • Documentation and Communication: Draft routine and non-routine correspondence, prepare materials for speeches and meetings, and may record minutes for staff meetings.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Relevant full-time professional, paraprofessional, or sub-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis (up to four years).
