Position Overview: The Senior Accountant will be essential in managing the financial operations- ensuring fiscal health, compliance, and offering strategic financial insights. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in non-profit finance, strong analytical abilities, and a collaborative spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze regular financial statements.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and cash flow.
  • Collaborate with families to explore funding sources and scholarship options.
  • Oversee administrative processes to promote efficient operations.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Facilitate the annual budgeting process and track budget performance.
  • Generate financial forecasts to support planning.
  • Oversee cash flow management and maintain budget oversight.

Communication:

  • Handle the financial aspects of grant management and report financial matters to the Board.
  • Present timely and accurate financial reports, overseeing all accounting activities.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and coordinate audit processes.
  • Maintain internal controls and manage insurance policies.
  • Update and implement necessary business policies and accounting practices.

Strategic Planning and Advising:

  • Offer financial insights to the leadership team.
  • Participate in strategic planning and assist with fundraising efforts through financial analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in non-profit financial management.
  • Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
