Position Summary

The Sr. Network Engineer at DSI Tech plays a crucial role in providing support for clients' wireless network solutions. They are responsible for designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting LAN and Cisco Wireless infrastructures for all assigned clients. The Sr. Network Engineer offers high-level technical support for wireless and data network systems, creates and manages network documentation, and works on projects as needed to upgrade communication equipment and procedures. Excellent customer service skills and problem management abilities are essential for this position. There may be a need for employees to travel to customer locations for fieldwork after hours and on weekends, and traveling to client sites could be up to 75% on an annualized basis.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform remote and on-site client consultation to plan, design, implement, and support wireless infrastructure
  • Develop and implement the technical architecture and physical design of the network by analyzing existing wireless and data networks and recommending solutions
  • Set up, configure, and test Cisco wireless solutions
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems
  • Assist Account Executives during the sales process by educating the customer about new technologies
  • Act as a Cisco Subject Matter Expert to customers and internal staff
  • Maintain CCIE and other certifications required for Cisco Gold and Master compliance.
  • Keep up to date on the latest developments in Wireless and wireless security technologies through forums, blogs, and community
  • Assist in project management
  • Ensure a stable performance environment for enterprise computer applications
  • Must be comfortable working in a demanding environment where client satisfaction is our goal
  • Direct the work of other technical team members and subcontractors
  • Work with minimal supervision by senior management
  • Knowledge transfer and working well within a team are essential for success

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge

  • CCIE Wireless certification required
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, electrical engineering, or general engineering, or a similar technical bachelor s degree is required. We will not accept a B Com degree (3-year degree)
  • Minimum of five years related experience in Cisco wireless infrastructure/network environments is required, with some experience in network engineering (hardware and software), network security practices, and designing, planning, and implementing LANs and WANs
  • Must have experience with all Cisco wireless solutions, including ISE
  • WLAN design experience and leveraging tools such as Ekahau, netAlly or iBwave is a must
  • Expert knowledge of at least one vendor s Wireless hardware - Access Points and Wireless Controller
  • Knowledge of scripting, including Python, is a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of wireless networking technologies (.11 & RF)
  • In-depth knowledge of wireless security - .1x, RADIUS, WPA2, EAP-TLS, PSK, general PKI concepts
  • Understanding wired networking concepts (Routing and LAN switching)
  • Experience designing high-density AP and client deployments
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and end users
  • Must possess excellent client management/resolution, problem-solving, debugging/troubleshooting skills, with sound presentation skills
  • Excellent English verbal communication and written documentation skills are required. Must have the capability to write SOWs (statement of work), respond to technical requirements for RFPs (Request for Proposals)
  • Expert Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, routing, subnets, and troubleshooting
  • Traveling can be up to 50% of the time, within the state of VA or out of state
  • Maintain CCIE and other certifications required for Cisco Gold and Master compliance.
  • Keep up to date on the latest developments in Wireless and wireless security technologies through forums, blogs, and community.
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a part of a team
  • Ability to follow directions and pay attention to detail

Physical requirements

The job requires the employee to sit for extended periods, as well as to stand, walk, climb ladders, carry equipment, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, push, and pull. Additionally, the employee must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs on a daily basis.
