The primary purpose of this Registered Nurse - Specialty Clinic is to execute position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to the management of the complex client care. This position is responsible for he documented outcomes at the program or service level and must be broad and complex. The individual will assess, plans, implements, and evaluates comprehensive orientation, staff development, and continuing education programs for nursing and other clinical staff using multidisciplinary approach.
Major Duties included, but are not limited to:
- Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the Veteran's health and/or situation.
- Analyze the assessment data to determine relevant issues, identifying actual or potential risks to the Veteran.
- Implement a plan to meet learning needs, instructing patients, and families in basic health teaching and discharge planning.
- Conduct a systematic, ongoing, and criterion based evaluation of the outcomes in relation to the structures and process prescribed by the plan and the indicated timeline.
- Adheres to safety regulations and reporting processes to protect and improve patient and staff safety.
- Participate in training in the setup, use, reprocessing, and maintenance of the unit/department-specific equipment leading to the initial competency and validation of ongoing competency annually.
- Promptly report all accidents to supervisor and notifies supervisor promptly of unsafe or unhealthy environmental situations/conditions.
- Support staff in utilizing finds from research studies and to pursue studies to improve patient care.
- Develop and maintain expertise in medical nursing and serve as a resource within the clinic.
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
