SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day functionality of the production machinery by monitoring and operating the machines to analyze results to ensure they meet company standards. They are also responsible for troubleshooting problems, performing repairs on all production machinery & auxiliary equipment, properly documenting work orders and communicating any related issues with equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Troubleshoot and repair machines and equipment to return them to manufacturing operational condition within a reasonable time period using correct measures, including OEM & wiring schematics, electrical drawings, circuits, and computer programming as well as assessments derived from gauges, meters and other trade measuring devices.
When necessary, troubleshoot to component level, including pumps, valves and sensors of various types and brands, along with the adjustments thereof using British and Metric fitting types and thread configurations as needed.
Resolve injection end problems utilizing knowledge of trade standard clearances for different machine components.
Responsible for system monitoring, debugging and troubleshooting operational problems, making repairs and performing preventative maintenance activities.
Responsible for wiring controllers to the equipment, labeling the wiring for safety and documenting the programs designed for the equipment.
Performs OEM Specified Preventative Maintenance on Molding Machines and Support Equipment, including machine leveling, squaring machines and toggle clamp mechanisms.
Change dies in machines as needed to meet and maintain production schedule.
Complete open work orders, preventive maintenance (P.M. s) and stock room organizational improvements.
Proper and professional communication with Maintenance Manager and other co-workers, ensuring all system issues are documented and status is known.
May be required to create documentation of the processes for each type of equipment.
May be required to perform work related to PLC, programming, etc.
Ability to perform building repair and maintenance.
Interacts regularly with Management, production team members and external vendors.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Associate s degree with certification in Electrical, Mechanical and/or Automation, Programming and/or Robotics plus minimum of 5 years hands-on experience working on machinery OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of various types of plastics machinery, related auxiliary equipment, and hydraulic fluids and lubricants.
Able to read and implement schematics and electrical drawings.
Critical thinking, excellent problem solving, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.
Must be able to fluently read, write and speak the English language.
Must be able to understand and work from written and/or verbal instructions.
Must be detail oriented, meet deadlines, multi-task and be able to work independently.
Ability to work well under pressure with time sensitive matters to respond quickly to placing machinery back to working condition.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook and experience with ERP software, IQMS strongly preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is typical of clean manufacturing, using robotic systems. At times, the work environment is that of a working warehouse due to the use of material handling equipment. Noise level is consistent with system alarms and overhead announcements. Must be able to bend, lift and stack materials up to 70 pounds. Work performed is typically walking and standing a high percentage of the workday. Requires physical stamina with occasional periods of sitting and may also require stooping, kneeling and crouching.
