Job Description :

We are seeking a skilled Validation Engineer specializing in electric motor and generator validation. The ideal candidate will focus on forward planning, conducting risk assessments, and determining necessary tests to ensure optimal component performance in various applications. This role will involve collaboration across teams to facilitate the development and approval of testing plans and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment and Planning: Assess and plan work to mitigate risks in New Technology Introduction (NTI) and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Test Plan Development: Collaborate with design leads to establish initial test plans early in the program, including conducting pick list reviews and documenting leverage opportunities.
  • Collaboration Workshops: Plan and host Simulation and Test Collaboration Workshops (STCW) to create high-level Validation Plans before Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Progress Communication: Communicate progress during Gateway Reviews, including System Readiness Summaries to stakeholders.
  • FMEA/DVP&R Approval: Approve Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design Validation Plan & Report (DVP&R) in collaboration with design managers, focusing on developing standard FMEAs.
  • Reliability Planning: Create proactive reliability glide paths and standard work documentation to guide testing efforts.
  • Long-Term Testing Needs: Project long-term testing requirements, including lab space, equipment, and personnel necessary for validation efforts.
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) Participation: Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in NPI issue meetings and contribute to resolutions.
  • HALT Planning Assistance: Assist with Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) planning and provide oversight for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Technical Guidance and Lessons Learned: Offer technical guidance throughout the validation process and capture lessons learned to improve future projects.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively in a team environment on new product programs involving electric drive technology, supporting a team of over 80 engineers and technologists.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science (accredited curriculum) with 9+ years of experience; or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science plus 7+ years of experience; or Doctorate degree in Engineering plus 5+ years of experience.
  • Previous product development experience in design, validation/test, or analysis is required.


Technical Skills

  • Extensive experience with electric drive systems and components, particularly electric motors and generators.
  • Proficiency in structured FMEA and DVP&R processes.
  • Familiarity with NPI issue resolution processes is desired.
  • Experience with CAT NPI programs and processes is a plus.
