Your Role

As an Application Support Engineer, you'll be the backbone of our promotions platform, ensuring the highest quality, accuracy, and availability of our high-visibility games. You'll collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and clients to troubleshoot and support technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Application Support: Address and resolve issues promptly to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Collaborative Troubleshooting: Work with the development team to diagnose and fix application-related issues.
  • Platform Expertise: Gain deep knowledge of our platform to interface confidently with technical teams for integrations and troubleshooting.
  • System Monitoring: Conduct regular health checks to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Incident Response: Participate in swift resolution of anomalies in internal platforms and client environments.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain support materials, including troubleshooting guides and system configurations.
  • Deployment Assistance: Help deploy new releases and updates smoothly with minimal service disruption.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in rotations to provide 24/7 assistance as needed.
  • Process Improvement: Enhance support processes and tools using feedback and data.
  • Cloud Configuration: Manage cloud environments using automated scripts for optimal performance and reliability.

What You Bring to the Table

Required Skills and Experience:

  • SQL Proficiency: Strong ability to execute standard SQL commands from the command line for ad-hoc support.
  • Experience: 2+ years as a DevOps Engineer, Application Support Specialist, Software Engineer, or similar role.
  • Linux Mastery: Comfortable working with Linux from the command line.
  • Scripting Skills: Proficient in Python, Ruby, bash/zsh, or other system scripting languages.
  • API Knowledge: Understanding of HTTP & REST APIs; skilled in tools like curl or Postman.
  • Cloud Savvy: Good working knowledge of cloud computing concepts and AWS services.
  • Monitoring Tools: Experience with Grafana and Prometheus for dashboard setup and data interpretation.
  • Logging Systems: Proficient with centralized logging systems like Graylog or Loki; adept at writing complex queries.
  • Security Practices: Solid understanding of security and encryption protocols.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Ability to read and write IaC using Terraform.
  • Debugging Tools: Experience with proxy, debugging, and profiling tools.
  • XML/XSD Proficiency: Skilled in reading and writing XML/XSD.
  • Version Control: Comfortable using GIT.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities to tackle complex technical issues.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative mindset.

Desired Skills:

  • Performance Tuning: Experience with system profiling and performance optimization.
  • Athena Expertise: Ability to perform ad-hoc support queries against data in S3 buckets using Athena.
  • JVM Knowledge: Understanding of JVM memory management and garbage collection tuning.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with Java and/or NoSQL databases.
  • AWS Services: Familiarity with Elasticache, DynamoDB, API Gateway, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFront, Cognito.
  • Load Testing: Experience with load testing high-performance distributed systems.
