We are seeking a Sr. Import/Export Logistics Specialist to manage and streamline international shipments, ensuring smooth transactions and timely deliveries worldwide. This role will be crucial in maintaining efficient logistics processes, managing accurate records, collaborating with freight agents, and identifying improvement opportunities within logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute, and track international shipments to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external freight agents to meet material availability deadlines and avoid demurrage.
- Troubleshoot booking and carrier issues, setting standards for smoother future shipments.
- Work closely with brokers and freight forwarders to handle bookings and ensure accurate documentation and data entry.
- Process import and export documents, verifying costs, contract pricing, and coordinating with Accounts Payable on discrepancies.
- Support the logistics team in developing and implementing import/export policies and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost-effective transportation solutions.
- Assist in contract negotiations, rate management, RFPs, and maintaining carrier relationships.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Logistics or a Business-related field.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, trucking, and ocean freight, with a strong focus on imports.
- Solid knowledge of international logistics, with US customs experience preferred.
- Proficient in ERP systems, MS Word, and Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changes.
- Detail-oriented and customer-focused with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
