Summary:
The Data Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of data and data products developed for the assigned data portfolio across all domains. The data product owner communicates with end user s current and future needs. They collaborate closely with development teams, stakeholders, and other relevant departments to define and prioritize data products and features.
Essential Functions:
Act as the product owner for assigned data platforms, including (but not limited to) datastores, data warehouses, and data lakes; analytic tools and engines; AI and ML platforms and tools; and reporting and data presentation tools and applications: This will include deep partnership with the product and other functions across the organization and will require an in-depth understanding of the tools and services available in the market to scale data platforms effectively and efficiently.
Develop a deep understanding of structure and use of the data within the data domain(s) that leverage the assigned data platforms and products.
Work with digital product owners and other data domain owners to understand what data is available to further enrich or enhance existing data sets within the assigned data products and platforms.
Advise business stakeholders, data domain owners, solutions architects on opportunities for new analytic and data capabilities that further increase the value of existing and planned data products through the adoption of tools, applications, and platforms.
Lead the full development process for new and existing data products, tools, and platforms; including (but not limited to) analysis and requirements gathering processes; design specification and data modeling processes; user experience design, code development, implementation, and deployment processes; and support hand-off processes.
Actively participate and act as a subject matter expert in internal/external meetings directly associated with the data products and platforms assigned; including (but not limited to) associated digital product design and demonstration meetings, business strategy and planning meetings, and data engineering and design meetings.
Lead the discovery processes used to estimate the level of effort for new development, fixes, enhancements; and in identifying high level tasks and resource requirements for existing and planned data products on the assigned data platform(s).
Create and maintain documentation, including business requirements, functional design, technical design, implementation plans, and user guides for assigned data products, tools, and platforms.
Collaborate with product development teams, data domain owners, data engineers, and solution architects to develop the logical and physical design of data assets and data presentation layers that support digital products and client solutions.
Act as an escalation point for all Tier 1 events impacting the assigned data product(s), tools, and platforms; and provide updates and communication to line of business users as well as corporate leadership.
All other projects and duties as required or assigned.

Education Required:
Bachelor s degree in business, MIS or related field preferred.
Experience Required:
Prefer 5+ years of experience in product ownership.
Proven experience as a Product Owner in the industry, demonstrating an understanding of insurance products, processes, and regulatory requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively translate business needs into actionable product features and user stories.
Strong communication skills to facilitate effective interactions between business stakeholders and development teams.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage product backlogs based on strategic goals, customer feedback, and market trends.
Other Skills and Abilities Required:
Experience with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word).
Prior property & casualty insurance experience preferred.
