Description/Position Summary
The Project Manager (PM) will work to support the Senior Project Manager in the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of complex projects. The PM will utilize their skills in the fundamentals of project management while working on complex projects with more senior PMs, and/or act as the sole PM on projects of moderate complexity, or on multiple simultaneous projects of lesser complexity with minimal guidance. A PM ensures the appropriate technical direction of the project, but owns the business aspects of the project.
Location: SW Missouri and Ely Mine, Vermont
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of scope, schedule, cost, contract terms, and client expectations for projects as assigned.
- Plan project execution (e.g., define and clarify technical approach, identify and assign resources needed, develop schedule of activities, develop/adopt project policies and procedures, etc.) to meet project/contract obligations
- Set team direction, assign project work, coordinate physical work activities and ensure schedule milestones and quality expectations are achieved
- Maintain Earned Value Analysis (EVA) data for financial reporting
- Compile and utilize charts and graphs for project reporting, preparing project forecasts and planning future execution
- Ensure preparation of project-specific plans and technical documents
- Proactively carry out the project safety plan and quality plan
- Prepare, execute, and monitor procurement plans
- Identify contract change with resulting modification and prepare associated communication for government submittal
- Monitor and track project progress, including identification, tracking and developing mitigation plans to avoid/address project execution risks
- Ensure compliance, and support for Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, client QC protocol and FAR on those projects you are responsible for
- Identify and forecast project(s)resource needs
- Maintain satisfactory relationships with subcontractors, and vendors
- Provide scopes of work for procurement of subcontractors and vendors
- Work with project team members to ensure project requirements are met
- Participate in proposals with guidance
- May require presence in the field, depending on project specifics.
Education/Experience:
- BS or MS degree is expected (degree in Engineering or Science is highly desired)
- Registration/certification is highly desired, or on track to obtain
- 4 to 8 years of Project Management experience
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Active membership in professional organizations is expected
- HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification with current 8 Hour Refresher
Key Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the technical aspects of the industry
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are critical
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment critical
- Good people and leadership skills, including the ability to direct, manage and motivate project staff
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office required
- Grasp of the basic scheduling techniques are critical
- Ability to identify alternate approaches that can result in enhanced project results
- Thorough understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to each project and site
- Strong grasp of basic financial tracking terms and methods are critical
- Development of intermediate negotiation skills
- Developing mature leadership skills are critical
- Embrace feedback as a tool for learning and professional development
