IT Applications Manager - HR

The IT Applications Manager - HR oversees the administration and enhancement of a portfolio of HR applications critical to business operations. This role includes responsibility for the architecture, maintenance, deployment, and continuous improvement of these systems. Leading a team of analysts and developers, alongside managing offshore support, the manager ensures the applications align with business goals, IT standards, and security requirements. Close collaboration with cross-functional IT and business teams is essential to support the HR department effectively and to meet established service levels. The manager also fosters a culture of innovation and high-quality solution delivery within the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a skilled team of analysts and developers responsible for the HR application suite.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to prioritize and manage development and enhancement requests, providing clear direction to the application development team.
  • Develop a deep understanding of HR business processes and data flows related to the applications in scope.
  • Conduct requirements-gathering sessions and guide solution design in response to business objectives.
  • Create and execute detailed implementation plans for agreed-upon solutions.
  • Manage end-to-end project cycles for small to medium-sized projects through a structured SDLC.
  • Oversee production and operational support for HR applications, either through an internal team or a managed services partner.
  • Work closely with IT partners to facilitate production support and project activities across functions.
  • Establish and enforce design principles in line with corporate and IT standards, with governance to ensure team adherence.
  • Ensure all security and compliance standards are applied across all application functionalities.
  • Oversee configuration and integration aspects of the applications under management.
  • Ensure timely deployment of patches and releases, with robust backup, recovery, and archiving strategies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to exploring new technologies for business enhancement.
  • Balance technical responsibilities with team management duties as needed.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree (Bachelor's preferred).
  • 8+ years managing teams within an ERP setting, especially in HR/Finance (Oracle Fusion, UKG preferred).
  • 5+ years hands-on experience with UKG Payroll and Workforce Central modules (configuration, integration).
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with payroll and time management solutions, with a focus on compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating payroll and time solutions with Core HCM platforms.
  • Proven success in collaborating with business partners at various levels and managing vendor relationships.
  • Skilled in business process analysis, solution design, enterprise application support, and vendor management.
  • Experience managing offshore and nearshore service providers.
