Overview
LMI is seeking a skilled cloud Software Architect/Developer (Senior Level) to support clients in the Colorado Springs, CO area. In this role, you will work closely with software architects, developers, and engineers to lead the collaborative development of a highly secure, micro-service-based enterprise cloud architecture. Leveraging LMI's world-class simulation engine, you'll be responsible for developing, deploying, and overseeing cloud-based solutions that enable Warfighters to design, execute, and analyze simulated scenarios at large and small scales with the convenience of web browser access on both unclassified and classified networks. This system will manage large-scale data, assets, agents, and potential outcomes in real time, providing valuable insights to the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Executive Branch. This position requires expertise in AWS, Azure, DevSecOps, and cloud-native tools, as well as a passion for innovation and mentoring junior developers in an agile environment.
The ideal candidate is adept at cloud infrastructure management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), elastic cloud orchestration, and implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. You will have a direct impact on the success of the team by building robust cloud architectures and enhancing data-driven decision-making within the national defense landscape.

Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and optimize a distributed, elastic system that supports multiple branches of the Armed Forces and other public sector clients, leveraging AWS and Azure (and possibly Google) cloud services.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud orchestration to streamline deployment, resource management, and scalability in cloud environments.
- Architect and develop new micro-services, as well as convert legacy code to interoperate within cloud-native, distributed architectures.
- Mentor more junior developers, fostering growth in cloud technology and software development practices.
- Build, test, and deploy micro-services through DevSecOps practices, CI/CD, and secure cloud deployment pipelines.
- Develop and manage APIs to enhance interoperability and communication across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure best-in-class feature development and data management for customer needs.
- Actively participate in all agile sprint ceremonies, lead by example, share progress, and demonstrate cloud-based developments to customers.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 8+ years of professional development experience or master's degree in a STEM field with 6+ years of professional development experience.
- Proven experience with modern OO programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Rust) within agile development frameworks.
- Strong proficiency with AWS and/or Azure cloud services, with hands-on experience in cloud deployment, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and elastic cloud orchestration.
- Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices for secure, scalable software deployments.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently, maintaining strong follow-through from start to finish on projects.
- Possession of or willingness to obtain U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance (including CI/Poly if required).
- U.S. Citizenship.
Desired:
- Experience in the space domain and with simulation and enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with large-scale data management in cloud environments.
- Java, Python, C++ (5+ years).
- Experience with agile frameworks, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
