Our client is seeking an Linux Administrator- Storage Specialist in Atlanta, GA.
Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator with expertise in storage management** to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting Linux systems, with a focus on storage solutions and technologies. This role requires deep knowledge of system performance, storage platforms, and networking concepts, along with excellent problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Linux Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc.).
Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings.
Perform system monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning to ensure optimal performance.
Storage Management:
Deploy and manage storage solutions (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, NFS, etc.).
Monitor and maintain storage capacity, usage, and performance.
Implement RAID configurations and manage LVMs (Logical Volume Management).
Work with backup and recovery tools to ensure data availability and protection.
Automation and Scripting:
Automate system tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, or other scripting languages.
Develop scripts to monitor and optimize storage and system performance.
Networking and Security:
Configure network settings, firewalls, and storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS).
Implement security best practices on Linux systems and storage devices.
Perform patch management and vulnerability assessments.
System and Storage Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation of system and storage configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Create runbooks and knowledgebase articles for common tasks and incidents.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with DevOps, application, and database teams to ensure smooth integration with storage solutions.
Provide support during planned maintenance, outages, or incidents, including off-hours on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience managing Linux systems in a production environment.
Strong hands-on experience with storage technologies (SAN, NAS, RAID, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, etc.).
Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery practices and tools.
Familiarity with Ansible, Puppet, or other automation tools is a plus.
Understanding of networking protocols and troubleshooting tools (e.g., DNS, DHCP, SSH, iptables).
Skills & Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid storage solutions.
Certification in Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM).
Experience working with ZFS, Ceph, or GlusterFS storage solutions.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Attention to detail with a commitment to documentation and best practices.
