Responsibilities:
- Create effective, user friendly and visually appealing interfaces.
- Design the overall functionality of the product in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing.
- Design user interfaces for various projects such as digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials as required.
- Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate the designs.
- Conceive and conduct user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes
General Skills:
- Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance
- Experience as a UX designer, interactive designer, UI designer, or similar role, designing for web and mobile applications
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools
- Thorough understanding of the limitations and appropriate use of web development technologies
- Experience in designing online programs with emphasis in the emotional aspects of human experience
- Experience conceiving and conducting user research, interviews and surveys, and translating them into sitemaps, user flows, user journey maps, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences
- Experience designing the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, iterate upon it in accordance with user-testing
- Experience designing and delivering wireframes, user stories, user flows, user journeys, mockups and prototypes optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
- Experience facilitating the client?s product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products and optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces
- Experience identifying design problems and devising elegant solutions Experience making strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features
- Experience gathering user feedback to configure existing interfaces A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines, managing competing priorities and client relationship management experience

- Experience using evidence, data and research to support content design

- Knowledge of government policies, standards and legislation relating to digital service delivery (Digital Service Standard, Simpler, Faster, Better Services Act)
- Experience with SEO (Search Engine Optimization), journey mapping, user stories, information architecture, content auditing and evaluation, wireframing, prototyping, persona development, user research and content testing
- Strong knowledge and experience with current web trends (e.g. analytics and design), French Language and accessibility standards (FLSA (French Language Services Act), AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act ) / WCAG 2.0 AA)
- Experience delivering digital products and services
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with agile product development tools and techniques (Miro, Figma, Jamboard, Mural, etc.) to build prototypes and user-centred digital products
- Knowledge of emerging trends in UX and content design to advise on strategy and lead the design and ongoing renewal of the government's web content and digital services

- Experience in migrating sites among various technology platforms
- Ability to communicate visually as well as in verbal and written formats.
- Relationship building skills to liaise with external partners and stakeholders.
- Knowledge and understanding of Enterprise Content Management
- Detailed knowledge of the Government of Ontario web standards, governance and legislative framework
- Experience to edit content
- Experience in converting variable source document formats into accessible content
