Job Description for EMS MODELER
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Power Engineering, Computer Science, similar engineering degree, or equivalent work experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate customer support

The team focuses on ensuring a world class EMS and ADMS system for use by multiple operating companies.
The Energy Management System (EMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Support Department maintains and develops three of the primary EMS/ADMS applications SCADA, Network, and Advanced Applications
These systems together form the basis of exchanging real-time data, balancing load to generation, and ensuring the safe operation and dispatch of the grid.
The department interfaces closely with sister-departments who maintain the underpinning IT and OT (operational technologies) and with Engineering teams, who provide the fundamental model of the grid, and collaborate on maintenance and troubleshooting
- Experience with real-time systems, real-time architectures and databases including modeling and revising data through software applications (GE e-terra source preferred)
- Model transmission and distribution sites including distributed generation resources
- Develop and maintain SCADA / ADMS/ EMS one line and other displays
The work is a mixture of daily engineering and design activities at various technology layers primarily focused on:
This position is primarily targeted towards EMS SCADA and Network Modeling such as SCADA point mapping and upkeep, ratings updates, display drawing/changes.
- Manage incoming requests and outgoing work for improvement, additions or corrections to the EMS/ADMS.
- Maintain ICCP tags/Object IDs, data parameters, and mapping to the relevant SCADA or Network Applications
- Manage ICCP permissions/access for transmission and generation companies to telemetry as needed for new equipment, retired equipment, or other changes
- Work with external companies to test data points
- Use a staging/QA system to thoroughly verify the accuracy, quality and reliability of the data before progressing to production environments
- Propose and implement methods or processes to drive higher quality control of SCADA/Network modeling.
This position may, after sufficient training and time, include the request to take reasonable 24x7 on-call shifts to support EMS Support's mission-critical business
In terms of must haves
Electrical Utilities experience, ideally working with real time systems such as SCADA, EMS, ADMS or OMS.
Examples:
Experience with real-time systems, real-time architectures and/or databases including modeling and revising data through software applications (GE e-terra source preferred)
Experience with SCADA, Network modeling and or display generation.
