  6. Make sure Off is chosen in the pop-up menu next to the website.
  7. On the left, click Pop-up Windows.

Senior NLP Scientist

Location: San Diego, CA (Remote)

Job Description:

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in NLP, particularly with LLMs and prompt engineering. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including AI leads, ML engineers, and product owners, you will develop impactful solutions for global healthcare applications. The Senior NLP Scientist reports to the Head of AI.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, train, and fine-tune large language models for clinical and medical applications.
  • Develop optimized prompts and tasks for healthcare-focused LLM outputs.
  • Conduct research in NLP, exploring advancements in language modeling, transfer learning, and domain-specific adaptation.
  • Design and implement efficient NLP pipelines for scalable LLM deployment.
  • Collaborate with ML engineers, data scientists, and product managers to align NLP solutions with business goals.
  • Oversee data preprocessing, annotation, and augmentation for high-quality training datasets.
  • Prepare research papers, patents, and technical documentation for internal and external sharing.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or master's in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related NLP specialization.
  • 5+ years of NLP experience, focusing on developing and deploying large language models.
  • Expertise in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
  • Experience with language models like GPT, BERT, T5, or similar architectures.
  • Knowledge of NLP libraries and tools (e.g., SpaCy, NLTK, OpenAI APIs).
  • Strong understanding of transfer learning, domain adaptation, and model fine-tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, and communication abilities.
  • Collaborative skills for Agile team environments.
  • Experience with healthcare or clinical data is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security practices for sensitive information is a plus.
