Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RF Optimization Engineer with a strong background in 5G/4G LTE optimization and drive test-based optimization using Actix. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in RF optimization, including 2 years of 5G experience, and a deep understanding of Nokia tools and network performance components. This is a 100% remote position, though candidates are preferred to work out of the Nokia Dallas Office. Candidates must be based in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Test Optimization: Perform drive test-based optimization using Actix for 4G LTE/5G (Sub6, mmWave) optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Network Performance Analysis: Analyze KPIs, identify performance degradation issues, and improve network quality.
  • 5G/4G Parameter Tuning: Implement new features and optimize radio network parameters for LTE and 5G networks.
  • Cluster Optimization: Experience with multi-layer cluster optimization (5G/LTE/UMTS).
  • Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Perform network performance troubleshooting, such as throughput issues, call drops, and access failures.
  • Nokia Tools Usage: Utilize tools such as Nokia NetAct OSS, Web Element Manager, CM Editor, and Nokia SON for alarm management, performance monitoring, and parameter configuration.
  • RF Performance Activities: Work independently on customer projects to perform RF performance tasks according to the project plan.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Review daily KPI reports, create reports, and perform deep dive counter-based analysis.
  • Feature Implementation: Tuning and optimizing Carrier Aggregation, VONR, NSA, and SA configurations for 5G networks.
  • 5G/4G Parameter Management: Experience with KPI counters, OPI counters, and Operational Performance Indicators.

Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • 10+ years of RF Optimization experience, with at least 2 years of 5G experience.
  • Expertise in Drive Test-based optimization using Actix.
  • Hands-on experience with 5G Sub6 optimization, Idle/Connected mode optimization, and Carrier Aggregation.
  • Knowledge of Nokia tools including Nokia NetAct OSS, Web Element Manager, and CM Editor.
  • 4G/5G optimization experience for single site tuning and cluster-level optimization.
  • Strong experience with RF performance management, network performance troubleshooting, and parameter tuning.
  • Familiarity with Nokia TDD and FDD parameters, and experience using Nokia SON.
  • Proficiency with drive testing equipment such as ACTIX, Nemo, TEMS, X-CAL, Windcatcher, and FalconSmart.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with T-Mobile tools like OneData, Truecall, ActixOne, Atoll, Asset, IMNOS, and RFDS.
  • Hands-on Layer 3 analysis experience using tools like ACTIX.
  • Troubleshooting experience with eNB/gNB/RRH resets, parameter changes, XLM plans, and site alarms.

Education
  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience also acceptable.

Skills
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Teamwork and ability to follow processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel, macros) and MS PowerPoint.
