As we continue to grow, we are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Part-Time Curriculum Developer & Academic Advisor.
Job Overview: As the Curriculum Developer & Academic Advisor at NYC Global Center, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the academic experience for our ESL students. You will be responsible for designing, refining, and implementing engaging ESL curricula that address students' needs and help them achieve measurable progress in their language skills. Additionally, you will oversee the academic management of students, including tracking their grades, preparing report cards, and supporting their overall academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and adapt ESL curricula to meet the needs of diverse learners, ensuring alignment with academic standards and student proficiency levels.
- Instructional Support: Collaborate with instructors to implement the curriculum effectively and provide guidance on best practices for teaching English as a Second Language.
- Student Assessment & Evaluation: Monitor and assess students’ progress through regular evaluations, assignments, and tests. Provide constructive feedback to students and instructors.
- Report Cards & Academic Records: Manage and track student grades, prepare detailed and accurate report cards, and communicate academic progress to students and parents as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of curricula and instructional strategies, and make recommendations for improvements based on student performance and feedback.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling, student registration, and other academic-related tasks as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- 0-2 years of experience in curriculum development or academic coordination, preferably in ESL education.
- Strong knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with student assessment tools and grading systems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
