The ideal candidate will collaborate with other construction professionals by providing financial guidance, participating in project meetings, coordinating with project managers and contractors, and aligning financial strategies with the overall goals of construction projects. The person will report to the president of the company and be able to work under his guidance and direction.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Budgeting: Develop and manage the project budget by collaborating with project managers, estimators, and stakeholders to estimate costs and create a comprehensive budget that encompasses all projects expenses. They monitor project expenditures against the budget and make recommendations for adjustments if necessary
- Contract review: Be a part of the contract review process before it goes to the president for signature. Be able to look for any wording from a financial point that could delay payment or create a financial hardship on the company
- Financial reporting: Responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports for the project. Generate income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial documents to provide stakeholders with a clear understanding of the project’s financial performance. Also, identify and analyze any variances in costs and revenues to inform decision-making processes
- Cost Analysis: Monitor project expenses and conduct cost analyses to identify areas where costs can be optimized
- Financial Compliance: Ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, such as tac regulations and industry-specific financial standards, to ensure that all financial transactions and reporting meet legal requirements. They also collaborate with external auditors to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records
- Cash Flow Management: Responsible for managing the project’s cash flow. Monitor cash inflows and outflows, ensuring that there is sufficient liquidity to meet financial obligations such as paying suppliers, subcontractors, and workers.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to provide insights into the project’s financial performance
- Financial Forecasting: Use historical financial data, current project information, and industry trends to forecast future financial performance
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, accountants, and other stakeholders to ensure effective financial management. They also communicate financial information and reports to project teams and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and facilitating informed decision-making
- Compliance and Governance: Ensures compliance with financial regulations and governance guidelines also, tax laws, accounting standards, and industry-specific financial guidelines. This mitigates the risks of legal issues and facilitates transparency and accountability in project finances
- Decision Support: Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes. The Controller will analyze financial data, assessing the financial impact of different scenarios, and conducting cost-benefit analyses. This will help make informed decisions that align with the project’s goals and objectives
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent
- 2-5 years’ experience as a Controller in the construction field preferred
- Experience in Financial Management
- Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets,
- Extensive experience in project invoicing and billing
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP accounting practices
- Knowledge of financial regulations
