Description: The Radiation Effects Engineer must have experience managing customer interactions. Candidates are also expected to have experience with radiation environment definition, effects of radiation on electronic systems, and probability of survival analysis.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
- Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance.
- Design, harden, and verify systems' performance across multiple radiation effects, including dose rate, total ionizing dose (TID), neutron displacement damage (NDD), and single event effects (SEE).
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to maintain radiation hardening across the product lifecycle.
- Define and execute approaches for specific problems and independently manage assignments.
- Contribute high-quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.
- Identify needs and concerns associated with design decisions and communicate them to project leadership.
- Update best practices and QMS processes to reflect the latest tools and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, program leadership, and non-technical personnel.
- Strong analytical skills for modeling and analysis tasks.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in planning critical test and analysis activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team player able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple tasks and demands.
- Solid understanding of radiation interactions with materials and devices.
- Education:
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of Radiation Engineering or related experience.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with radiation transport tools such as MCNP.
- Familiarity with environment definition tools such as ASSIST, FAB4DA, and SPIET-D.
- Conduct Probability of Success (Ps) analysis for parts, including using Weibull curves for SEE.
