Location
Lyssn is based out of Seattle, WA. The majority of work can be conducted remotely through telecommuting. Travel to in-person Lyssn team meetings is required approximately 2-3 times a year.

Job Type / Schedule
Lyssn is looking for a Server Side Java Developer who will be responsible for contributing to server-side infrastructure for web and mobile platforms. This individual should have strong experience with the Java programming language and SQL/JDBC interfaces, familiarity with the Tomcat server platform, and a basic understanding of AWS cloud architecture. This is a full time 40 hour per week remote position with flexible schedule.
Essential Functions
Server Side Java Developer will:
- Implement new features on a Java server-side framework following secure coding best practices
- Maintain a clean and optimized codebase, ensuring consistent coding conventions, and helping develop best practices
- Build upon existing public and internal APIs
- Assist with SOC 2 HIPAA audit
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Practice patience and empathy when dealing with client concerns or frustrations
Requirements
Candidates are required to demonstrate the following skills
- Strong Java programming experience
- Understanding of basic SQL programming as well as the JDBC interface
- Understanding of JSON API calls and parsing of JSON objects
- Some background with Tomcat or related server architectures is desirable
- Experience in gathering and interpreting client requirements
- Skill in presenting solutions and providing technical recommendations to clients
Ideal candidates will have a track record of being a proactive, reliable person that balances resolving problems on their own and consulting with supervisors. Consistency, reliability, and follow-through are important.
Experience managing AWS infrastructure, familiarity with HIPAA and/or SOC 2, and experience with testing frameworks are not required, but would be considered a strong plus.

Compensation
The salary range will be based on experience in the field, ranging from $85,000 - $95,000 (entry level or similar will land around the bottom of the range). New Lyssn employees may be granted stock options (subject to board approval).
