Job Description IT Systems Administrator
TitleIT Systems Administrator (Atlanta, GA Managed Services)
DescriptionThe IT Systems Administrator s role is to design, organize, modify, and support the organization s computer systems. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading IT Infrastructure to include networks, servers, and related applications and operating systems. This role will also provide backup on-site deskside support for end-users as required when the Deskside Technician is unavailable.
ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Planning
- Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future IT Infrastructure needs.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Conduct research on IT Infrastructure in support of standardization and procurement efforts. Evaluate and recommend products for purchase.
- Write technical specifications for purchase of IT Infrastructure and related products.
- Deploy IT Infrastructure equipment to include servers, network devices, and related devices.
Operational Management
- Perform onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex IT Infrastructure problems, and recommend and implement corrective solutions.
- Accurately document and track IT Infrastructure assets location and status.
- Record and manage equipment sent to repair depots for equipment under warranty or service contracts.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot IT Infrastructure and related software in order to meet business objectives.
- Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to IT Infrastructure devices based on technical specifications.
- Collaborate with Deskside technicians and the Service Desk to ensure efficient operation of the company s end-user computing environment.
- Where required, administer and resolve issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products.
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, service desk tickets, email, or chat regarding IT Infrastructure incidents.
- Answer to and perform moves, adds, and changes (MAC) requests as they are submitted by managers or solution area engineering teams.
- Prepare tests and applications for monitoring IT Infrastructure performance, and then provide performance statistics and reports.
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring IT Infrastructure operations.
- Develop and maintain an inventory of all servers, network devices, and other components and equipment as needed.
- If necessary, liaise with third-party support and equipment vendors.
Formal Education & Certification
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
- The following certifications are highly desired
- ITIL Foundation
- Cisco CCNA/CCNP
- Microsoft MCSE
Knowledge & Experience
- Excellent technical knowledge of IT Infrastructure, including switches, routers, wireless access points, server operating systems and hardware, storage arrays, and security applications.
- Strong system administration experience in Windows and Active Directory environments.
- Experience with automation using an established framework (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.).
- Strong technical knowledge of current protocols, operating systems, and standards.
- Able to read and understand technical manuals and procedural documentation.
- Experience documenting and maintaining configuration item information in ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms to support IT Asset Management functions.
- Experience in public cloud environments, including AWS and/or Azure.
- Experience working in an ITIL-driven environment and working knowledge of ITIL principles and processes.

- Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
