Billing & Reimbursement Specialist - Revenue Cycle
This is a remote position.
Overview
The Billing & Reimbursement Specialist I is assigned a group of dialysis facilities and is responsible for the accurate and efficient billing and collecting of health insurance payments from insurance carriers. The Billing & Reimbursement Specialist coordinates, documents, and communicates with health insurance representatives regarding proper insurance payments in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

The Billing & Reimbursement Specialist I is assigned a group of dialysis facilities and is responsible for the accurate and efficient billing and collecting of health insurance payments from insurance carriers. The Billing & Reimbursement Specialist coordinates, documents, and communicates with health insurance representatives regarding proper insurance payments in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Billing and Collections: Oversee accurate billing and revenue collection for assigned financial classes, ensuring compliance and precision.
- Claims Management: Obtain and monitor claim status via phone and online portals; prepare and track appeals as needed.
- Insurance and Patient Interaction: Communicate professionally with insurance carriers and patients regarding billing, claims, and payments.
- Adjustments and Allocations: Accurately allocate coinsurance and deductibles and process necessary claim adjustments.
- Mail and Correspondence Management: Review and address all incoming mail and correspondence promptly.
- Collaboration and Reporting: Work effectively with internal departments, maintain regular facility reports, and ensure issues are promptly identified and addressed.
- Adaptability and Growth: Stay flexible to evolving processes and demonstrate a commitment to learning new skills.
- Compliance and Confidentiality: Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold strict confidentiality with all patient information.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare management, or related is strongly preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience as a Billing and Reimbursement Specialist or equivalent work experience in insurance collections.
- Experience in dialysis and/or healthcare is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service skills with the demonstrated ability to actively contribute as a team player.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and remain flexible with changing priorities.
