Job Summary:
This role supports the enterprise's data governance program. Responsibilities include evaluating data sets and applications to classify data (e.g., PHI, PII, Business Sensitive) and analyzing governance issues to identify problems, opportunities, and solutions. The position will represent Data Governance in support of projects, through collaboration with internal stakeholders, third-party vendors, and clients. Additionally, the role includes developing and managing policies, processes, and standards, as well as facilitating communication with business partners, technology and the Data Governance team members.

Job Responsibility:
- Utilizes information management tools as well as various data sources, to uncover and determine root causes of data governance issues.
- Works closely with internal business users and clients (data owners) to resolve data governance issues.
- Takes a hands on approach to data governance. Create a baseline for use in periodic data governance reviews and audits.
- Defines the degree of data governance required for all data elements and the values required for each element to support data usage.
- Collaborates with data architects to incorporate data governance screening/tests for data elements into data sourcing processes (ETL).
- Articulates the need for and benefits of data governance to vendors, clients groups, system users, and other stakeholders.
- Identifies and leverages opportunities to continually improve the governance of data management systems, processes, policies, and standards.
- Engages and partners with 3rd party vendors, internal development, and other parties as needed. Establishes data governance metrics and provides reports on metrics attainment.

External Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience as a business analyst on information management projects (e.g., data governance, data warehousing/business intelligence, meta data management, master data management).
- Knowledge of information management tools such as data cleansing, data profiling, meta data management, master data/CDI, data modeling, business intelligence
- Experience with analyzing and resolving data issues, trends, or exceptions including data conformity, data governance, or data sensitivity aspects.
- Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS, IM
- Experience in retail or healthcare industries
- High level of knowledge of data governance related laws and regulations, specifically State Privacy Laws and HIPPA
