Reporting to the VP of Operations, this is a full-time position, based at our San Leandro location and comes with a competitive compensation and benefits package. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.
Position Summary
The EH&S Specialist is responsible for supporting and driving Trayer s EH&S initiatives, as well as developing and implementing programs that meet local, state and federal regulations. The role supports all Trayer departments, in both the San Leandro and Livermore locations, in maintaining compliance through policy development and implementation, routine inspections, recommendations and recordkeeping.
Position Duties:
- Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S policies to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform routine inspections and audits to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, performing root cause analyses and implementing preventive measures.
- Lead safety training initiatives and promote awareness across all departments.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and manage all compliance reporting.
- Develop, implement and maintain Management systems for ISO 45001 and 14001
- Collaborate with leadership to create a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Track and analyze EH&S data to continuously improve performance and ensure best practices.
- Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to enhance EH&S initiatives.
- Facilitate and perform regular emergency response equipment inspections and emergency testing.
- Conduct and document weekly hazardous material and waste inspections
- Manage the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan, Hazardous Materials Business Plan, Lock out Tagout and Respirator Protection Programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of related experience with knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
- Degree in industrial safety, environmental science, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Experience in conducting EH&S training and managing compliance programs
- Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM) are an advantage
