Overview:
Abel Personnel is assisting its client in hiring a Junior Network Engineer to support the FBI s Information Technology Infrastructure Division in Huntsville, AL. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled network professional to work in a high-security, fast-paced environment, ensuring critical network operations and security within a government setting.
Work Schedule:
- Swing Shift: Tuesday - Saturday, 3/3:30 PM - 11:30 PM/12 AM.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be required to meet program needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Intermediate Network Engineer and on-site government personnel by managing incoming tickets, alerts, and communications in the Network Operations Center (NOC).
- Follow up on outstanding tickets with government and contractor personnel to ensure timely updates.
- Observe and document the actions of contractor personnel to support ticket updates and after-action reviews.
- Provide support to other NOC personnel to ensure the smooth operation of network activities.
- Contribute to reporting and data analysis related to NOC activities under the Contract Line Item Number (CLIN).
Required Qualifications:
- Security Clearance: Active Top-Secret clearance.
- Experience: 1-3 years of relevant IT experience focused on network technologies, especially with Cisco routers and switches, and LAN/WAN troubleshooting.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, firewalls, and encryption technologies.
- Tools: Experience with network management tools such as Riverbed, Wireshark, and Micro Focus Network Automation.
- Security Knowledge: Familiarity with general security tools and methodologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access control lists (ACLs).
Desired Qualifications:
- Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise Core and Infrastructure.
- Education: Associate s degree (preferred) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Work Authorization:
- U.S. citizenship with an active Top-Secret security clearance.
