Purpose of the Job
The Project Manager supports the Sr. Project Managers and the construction field crew activities with administrative responsibilities.
General Duties/Key Responsibilities
The essential duties of the job are:
- Ability to assume field Superintendent responsibilities in the absence of the Superintendent (i.e., vacation, bereavement, jury duty, etc.)
- Ability to lead projects from estimation to final completion with minimal supervision
- Scheduling
- Order and track materials
- Track subcontractor costs
- Pre-construction activities including project investigations, pre mobility plans, pictures/videos of project site
- Creating purchase orders and sub-contract documents
- Guide and assist the Superintendents/Foremen in schedule creation
- Apply for and obtain all necessary permits or licenses.
- Plan review and “take-offs”
- Invoice tracking and approval
- Pay request tracking and creation
- Problem-solving to address delays, emergencies, or other issues
Requirements
- 5 – 7 years’ experience in the construction industry required
- 3 – 5 years’ previous Project Management experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, required
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science or Business preferred, but not required
- Must have great customer service and communication skills
- Exceptional time management skills
- Excellent technical skills and understanding of construction methods, contracts, and blueprints
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
50% of this job will be performed in an environmentally controlled office. The other 50% may require job site visits that would have the employee in outside weather conditions, which could include inclement weather, heat, and humidity, extreme cold, and exposure to dust and asphalt. The job site visits may also occasionally expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. The noise level on the job site is usually loud. Use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required. Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job in the office environment, the employee must have the ability to communicate effectively in person or over the telephone, must have the visual acuity to read words and numbers, must have sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. May have to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job on a job site, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
Expected Hours of Work
Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Travel
Light travel may be required for this position. The employee will routinely travel to job sites within the city.
