We are currently recruiting for an experienced MSP Field Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading provider of managed IT services.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team, providing on-site technical support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for a wide range of client environments.
As a Field Engineer, you will be the first line of technical support, addressing and resolving IT issues for clients across multiple industries. This is a client-facing role, so you will be working directly with customers to ensure their IT systems are running smoothly and efficiently.
This role is perfect for someone looking to work hybrid on both Systems and Network.
Key Responsibilities:
  • On-site Support: Provide on-site IT support to clients, troubleshooting hardware and software issues for desktops, servers, networking equipment, and peripheral devices.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and resolve service desk tickets and field service requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Network Setup & Maintenance: Install and configure networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and perform regular maintenance on client infrastructure.
  • System Monitoring: Monitor client systems remotely and on-site to ensure optimal performance and identify potential issues before they become critical.
  • User Training: Provide basic training and guidance to end-users, ensuring they are fully equipped to use their IT systems efficiently.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all actions, configurations, and resolutions in the service management platform to ensure full transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Project Support: Assist with the deployment of larger IT projects (e.g., server migrations, network upgrades, cloud migrations, etc.).
  • Customer Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and trust.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • Proven Experience: 2+ years of experience in a field engineer or onsite IT support role, ideally in an MSP (Managed Service Provider) environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac OS environments, as well as networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.). Experience with cloud-based solutions such as Microsoft 365, Azure, or Google Workspace is a plus.
  • Networking Knowledge: Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN solutions.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Desktop Support, Cisco CCNA, or other IT-related certifications.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and a methodical approach to resolving technical issues.
  • Self-Motivated: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively while on-site at various client locations.
  • Customer Focused: A passion for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as ConnectWise, Autotask, or similar.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and OneDrive administration.
