US Citizenship required for role, be qualified to obtain Security Clearance upon hire, or already possess active Confidential Clearance. This is a 12-month contract (extension possible, not guaranteed) opportunity in the Hampton Roads Metropolitan Area.

Veterans/Military are encouraged to apply. We are looking for leaders with strong critical thinking and communication skills.

The following experience and education are required/can be substituted:

  • BS / Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering / ABET Accredited program and 9 years of experience
  • Masters and 7 years of experience
  • PhD and 4 years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Additional Information

  • Familiar with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, the Virginia Construction Code (VCC), Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code (VSFPC), and other related codes and standards
  • Should have a sound working knowledge of fire alarm and detection systems, fire sprinkler systems, clean agent suppression systems, and related technologies.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal and external customers on fire protection, life safety, and related matters.
  • Develop cost estimates and provide input to the Facilities Long Range Strategic Plan for planned and emergent fire protection projects.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $51.63 - $66.26 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

Schedule:

  • Day shift / First Shift 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Ability to Commute:

  • Newport News, VA 23607 (Required)
