Summary and responsibilities
Responsible for creating and altering patterns for garments, ensuring they meet design specifications and fit requirements. The Patternmaker will collaborate closely with product design and product development teams to bring concepts to life while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Develop, modify, and grade patterns based on design specifications and prototypes.
- Use CAD software and traditional methods to create and adjust patterns.
- Collaborate with designers to understand their vision and translate it into practical patterns.
- Maintain pattern library and documentation for reference and future use.
- After fittings make necessary adjustments to patterns to ensure proper fit.
- Ensure patterns are produced efficiently and meet production timelines.
- Assist in troubleshooting production issues related to patterns.
- Provide the mini-marker to the contract manufacturer for greatest efficiencies in layout and material use.
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Patternmaker in the fashion or textile industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Gerber, Optitex, Lectra) and manual pattern-making techniques. Browzwear 3D softwear knowledge is a plus.
- Candidate must have access to patternmaking software on their system.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fit.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with designers and production staff.
