Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to join our team in the Austin, Texas area. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing accounting records and financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance. You will also play a key role in assessing business operations, identifying financial trends, and reporting on costs, revenues, and financial obligations. Additionally, you will help establish and maintain accounting policies and internal control procedures to ensure the integrity and consistency of our financial processes. Responsibilities:

• Understands the basic principles, theories, and concepts related to the profession and apply them within the organizational culture.
• Follow standard practices and procedures to analyze situations or data and obtain answers.
• Contributes to specific objectives and outcomes as directed.
• Performs work in accordance with applicable rules and regulations, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and organizational policies and procedures.
• Assists in maintaining and coordinating accounting control policies and procedures.
• Generate standard reports, including balance sheets and profit and loss statements, in a timely manner.
• Assists with the monthly and annual close process by completing assigned accounting functions and making appropriate and accurate journal entries.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts in a timely manner and reports any material reconciling issues to management.
• May perform various accounting functions, such as fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing.
• Assists with internal and external audits, including the annual external audit of financial statements.
• Contributes to accounting system maintenance, upgrades, and conversion efforts.
• Maintains regular communication with management, providing relevant fiscal information to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
• Works on moderately complex accounting issues, requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Demonstrates proficiency in using client-server financial systems and Microsoft Office.
• Reviews, records, analyzes, and reports accounting transactions to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and appropriateness of accounting records.
• Conducts research and provides accounting guidance for proposed transactions to ensure proper treatment.

You:

• Bachelor s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (Required).
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience beyond degree requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Hands-on experience with Workday financial management system.
• Proven experience with general ledger functions and management.
• Expertise in preparing accurate and comprehensive financial statements.
• Strong background in account reconciliation, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
• Familiarity with accounting journals, including those used for month-end close processes.
• Ability to independently initiate research within accounting systems to interpret and understand financial transactions.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification (Preferred), or CPA candidate is a plus
