About the Opportunity
Inalab has an immediate opening for a Web/Software Developer to support NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Dissemination (W/DISS) under the Operations and Maintenance Support Contract. The ideal candidate will have at least ten (10) years practical experience designing, developing and maintaining webpages and software programs in a technical environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform Web development activities for NWS dissemination systems such as NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR), NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS), International Services and Communication Systems (ISCS), Emergency Manager s Weather Information Network (EMWIN) and All Hazards Collection System (HazCollect) Legacy (HCL).
- Perform software development using the existing programming languages (i.e., Linux, BASH shell and Perl).
- Monitor and coordinate Dissemination Systems Branch (DSB) web presence.
- Identify and correct errant webpages, fix broken links.
- Proactively identify improvements in design, layout, content and presentation of DSB webpages.
- Create and maintain scripts and programs for systems operations and performance monitoring
- Implement operating system (OS) and application software updates per NWS/NOAA/DOC IT security requirements.
- Coordinate with Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III support teams to resolve system/operation issues.
- Perform modifications to the software and user manual to incorporate corrections, updates and modifications in response to NWS approved user feedback and new software requirements.
- Perform and contribute to the team effort in resolving all Dissemination Systems Branch tasking and meeting performance objectives.
- Provide weekly input to the Inalab Program Manager and respective Government Task Manager(s) on assigned tasks; noting any schedule or deliverable variances.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 10 years of practical experience designing, developing and maintaining webpages and software programs in a technical environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with ArcGIS desired
- Prior experience at NOAA NWS is a plus
